Re-Elect Kent Money for South Jordan Mayor

My name is Kent Money,
and I have served as your Mayor for the last eight years.

My wife Vicki, and I have lived in South Jordan for the past 26 years where we have raised our four children. I have worked for Zions Securities Corporation for the past 30 years and have served as its president for 24 years.  As a resident, you have seen tremendous growth in our city which has almost doubled our population since I have been Mayor. I have always said, we cannot stop growth but we can manage it, and I hope you agree with me that South Jordan is still a beautiful city and a wonderful place to live. Today I am asking for your continued support because there are still some very important issues facing our city. I believe I am the only candidate with the experience, knowledge, and leadership to complete them.

If elected Mayor, I will continue to keep this city financially strong; pledging not to raise taxes, being frugal and not placing additional financial burdens on our citizens during these already stressful economic times. I will continue to work towards finding a solution to our secondary water needs. Many of our citizens have been promised secondary water by developers and the city; therefore we need to develop a system, so those promises can be fulfilled. I am the only elected official that has been here since the inception of our beautiful and successful Daybreak community. Our city has worked closely with Kennecott Land, but there are still issues that need to be resolved. One of my goals is to complete the Jordan River Trail through South Jordan. We have made great progress, but there is still work to be done. We also need to work with the County on “Blue Print Jordan River” to clean up the river and preserve its natural beauty for generations to come, without raising taxes.

We must partner up with the Jordan School District to reduce their portion of the property tax burden on our citizens without compromising the quality of education for our children. We can do this by:
  1. Creating a working relationship with the Jordan School District where together we can look at future budgets and help them cut costs!
  2. Thinking out of the box and looking at education practices and utilization of buildings; to be more efficient in the use of these very valuable resources.
  3. Using what influence I have to work with the legislature to equalize funding not only for facilities but for each and every student.

We must continue working with UDOT to finish 10400 South from Redwood Road to Bangerter and 11400 South from I-15 to Bangerter, and to minimize the impact on those that are directly affected by these roads. We will utilize any federal assistance by way of grants, stimulus monies, or any other programs for the benefit of South Jordan, especially as we continue to grow and development.

We have a wonderful and competent council and staff that has worked together to represent you to the best of our abilities. We are humbled and honored at the trust you have given us and we would like to continue to represent you through the challenges to come.

I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR VOTE ON SEPTEMBER 15th and NOVEMBER 3rd.
